It was time for another Bluesci radio show last week when Anand and I chatted all about teeth.
We hadn’t done one for a while so, if I’m honest, we were a bit rusty (especially the first 10 minutes or so) but after that we really got going.
So elephant tusks, sharks, ancient mammals, hypercarnivory, bears, Gameboy-based injuries and all that… have a listen >>> HERE.
p.s. A week after we recorded this my old friends at Bristol published this in Nature showing that the “teeth” in Placoderms are formed of dentine and have a pulp cavity showing that “structural objections to the identification of teeth in placoderms are unfounded.” Really nice work.
